What is our Statement of Faith?
Springs First Church is a Bible-believing congregation in the tradition of John Wesley. We also encourage everyone to live a Christ-Centered life that is based around Worship, Relationships, and Service.
- We believe in one Creator, God, who reveals Himself as Father, Son and Spirit.
- We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ.
- We believe that the Bible is the inspired and relevant Word of God.
- We believe that all people have sinned and need God’s grace and forgiveness which is abundantly available through Jesus’ death on the cross.
- We believe God draws us to Himself but the decision to respond is ours.
- We believe that an individual must repent and trust Christ to receive forgiveness and eternal life.
- We believe that as Christians we need to offer our whole lives to God that He might cleanse our hearts from the attitude of sin (the Biblical word for this is sanctification). When we surrender ourselves to God completely, His Spirit can fully mold us into Christ likeness. His perfect love is reflected in our attitudes and actions, and God empowers us to live life more abundantly.
- We believe that the Church is the Body of Christ, carrying on His purposes in the world.
- We believe that God can bring healing.
- We believe that Jesus Christ is coming again.
- We practice the sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
Things to know about Springs First
- We look to the Bible as our primary source for direction in our worship and living our lives.
- We are a warm and friendly group of people who desire, with God’s help, to live holy lives that bring honor and glory to Him. In three words, our theology is “JESUS IS LORD!”
- We are life-centered in our teaching and sensitive to the needs and concerns of others.
- We give people opportunities to put their faith into action through various avenues of ministry service.
- We are honored to take our place among the many who are called Christians.
- We laugh and cry together, rejoice and grieve together, grow together and walk in faith together. We aim to be a family to all who love Jesus - a Nazarene from the town of Nazareth.
- We encourage our people to consider these four important areas for a balanced life:
- Attend a weekly worship service.
- Join a Sunday School class or small group. This will allow you the joy and blessing of building relationships with other people.
- Become involved in a ministry, helping us to fulfill our mission.
- Rest. Spend time with your family.
- We want you to know there is room for you at Springs First Church of the Nazarene.
Things to know about Nazarenes
- We are a Protestant Christian church in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition.
- We currently minister in 156 world areas.
- We believe that everyone is important, unique, and made in the image of God.
- We believe that God created people to have relationship with Him.
- We believe that we are to love others with the kind of love that Jesus modeled for us in the Bible.
- We believe that Christians are to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
- We believe that heaven and hell are real places.
- We believe the church is designed to serve people like Jesus served people.
- We believe the next generation depends on us and that God longs for us to partner with Him.
- We believe a person should be a fully devoted follower of God. We believe that Jesus should not only be our Savior, but that God should be the leader of our fully surrendered life.
- We believe our love for God should be genuine, sincere, and visible to others. This takes the power of the Holy Spirit to completely fill our lives and break the power of sin in our hearts.
- Every Church has individual Characteristics
- Every church has individual practices or beliefs that set it apart from other groups.
- Sometimes this is confusing to people. They say, “If the Bible is true and Jesus was who He claimed to be, why are there so many different churches with so many different beliefs?”
- We optimistically believe that despite the differences in beliefs and practices, most Christian congregations still agree on 90-95% of Christian teaching, and that the other 5-10% we do not agree on falls in this category of “individual characteristics.”
